Bonds:[]
People -[]
- Twilight Crescent. Loyal to his paladin order, he has been exiled as an itinerant executioner and is motivated to pay off his debt so he can return to more desirable duties in the Fey Realm.
- Marks of Vengeance - He is bound to take on execution marks from his order, the Arch Fey Lord who currently holds part of his debt. The marks focus on settling scores with those who have fallen afoul with the Seelie and Unseelie Courts. He also must supplement by taking marks from the inhabitants of the Material Plane to kill those who are taboo-breakers. The Twilight Crescent credits these marks toward his overall debt. He receives marks from his order and Archfey creditor via visions/dreams at night.
- Archfey Lord - work with DM to connect to Archfey in play-setting. Owes debt for botching execution of Archfey Lord’s debtor that was contracted to his order. The mark escaped severely wounded to the Material Plane. He is exiled until he either works off this debt or kills the mark. He will prioritize this debt above all others. This Archfey is his archenemy.
- Sam’s character - His Archfey Lord has set a mark on Sam’s character for killing his village elder’s child during a healing rite. Unbeknownst to Sam’s character, the Archfey had a deal with the village elder which required the child as payment. So Florent plans to kill him to get double points (taboo-breaker and Archfey marks of vengeance). He has already made contact with Sam and is journeying with him to let him clear his name before executing the mark. He had told Sam’s character that this is the case.
- Debt Clock: Also, he has racked up a huge debt gambling with Sam and is required to pay by his Fey order. So he can’t execute the mark until his debt is square. He has not told Sam’s character this - but will execute his mark as soon as it is paid.
- Sam’s distant cousin - Fey marks don’t discriminate between individuals. His family member could satisfy the mark, if he can witness her break a taboo. He is not required to mention this to Sam or his cousin.
- Dragon - A cut of the dragon’s hoard could clear his debt with Sam and allow him to execute his mark. He will take any contract he can find to pursue the dragon.
- Other creditors - definitely has creditors on the Material Plane he is running from. DM, have fun…
- Taboo-breakers - Florent must accept marks from Material Plane inhabitants who seek revenge on those who have heinously broken a sacred taboo (examples: sacred oathbreaking, kinslaying, cannibalism, incest, infanticide, regicide or treachery after swearing fealty, desecration, genocide), he will attempt to wriggle out of it where there is room to interpret whether the act was heinous or the taboo was sacred. Doesn’t want to get caught up in small stuff.
- Parents - given up at birth. Father is a human that visited Feywilde. Mother is an elf within the Seelie Court in the Feywilde. That is all he knows, but he would love to learn more one day.
Things:[]
- Executioner Axe - he is obsessed with it and considers it his mark of office and will lose focus on the marks he is pursuing to recover it if necessary.
- Games of Chance: He cannot say no and will go all in
- Gloamhound Mask of Shame: He has to wear it as a scarlet letter until his debt with the Archfey Lord is paid. It is deeply humiliating and he is very touchy about it and who does anything to remove it - including going against his order.
Places:[]
- Feywild: He misses the Feywild and seeks to pay his debt so he can return from exile
- Twilight Crescent Court: The court of his order in the Feywild, which lies at the dividing point between the Seelie and Unseelie Courts and acts as neutral buffer zone between them.
- Material Plane: He enjoys the inhabitants of the Material Plane, finding them less petty and capricious and does take pleasure in executing marks on their behalf against taboo-breakers (because he values goodness in people).
Flaws:[]
- Channels fey impulsion into barely functional drinking and gambling addiction. Does not drink or gamble on the job, but goes on benders during rest periods and downtime
- Always in-debt and trying to pay off or outrun his creditors
- As fey, must to pay off debts (balance required)
- Chafes under discipline and structure
- Struggles to be “good paladin” do to chaotic nature
- Injury from fight with his Archfey Lord creditor left him with a gaping warpick wound in his forehead, impulse control issues, and +8 intelligence
Background:[]
- Born in the Feywilde to a human visitor from the Material Plane and an elf native to the Feywilde, he was disinherited by the Seelie Court due to his connections to the Material Plane. The Twilight Crescent Court adopted him shortly after birth.
- He worked as court guard for many years and was finally commissioned as a fey executioner, where he developed a reputation for botching several low-profile executions he was assigned. He has noose-scars around his neck to prove it.
- His last mark, he failed to kill - escaping wounded to the material plane. This enraged the Archfey Lord who owned the mark. A fight with this Archfey, left with a massive head wound. This Archfey now holds part of his debt, until the mark is found and finished.
- He is also now caged in a shame mask - to which his Archfey master holds the fey key
- He is now exiled to the material plan as an Itinerant Fey Executioner, sent to carry out revenge on marks who have failed arbitration with the Seelie or Unseelie Courts. He must also accept marks from his Archfey Lord creditor and inhabitants of the material plane who seek to punish taboo-breakers.
Twilight Crescent Justice[]
- This court stands at the boundary of the Seelie and Unseelie lands, acting as a neutral buffer zone. The Twilight Crescent Court is contracted by both courts to act as a neutral broker in disputes, negotiations and transactions between them in order to prevent blood feuds from breaking out. Justice among the rival fey courts is not governed by laws, rules and standards, but by personal whim of those with power and the will to wield it. Justice is capricious, vengeful and personal. For ages it spiraled out of control in blood feuds.
- Fey contracts involve debts of deep personal meaning or cost to the debtors - often centered on possessions, people or intangibles the debtor values. Examples include - taking the first born child of a king, the voice of a singer, the freedom of a free spirit, the intellect of a wizard, etc
- He was pledged as an oblate and raised by the Twilight Crescent paladin order. Their job is to execute marks of vengeance on those who have run afoul of the Seelie and Unseelie courts and have failed arbitration. Typically, the order is involved where executing a mark would lead to a blood feud within or between the Feywilde Courts.
- They also accept marks for those indebted to the Fey Courts who live on the Material Plane - since Fey do not like to travel to the Material Plane for extended periods of time.
